850 electrical problem
Made a big mistake when neighbor was helping me jump start car...cables were put on backwards and smoke started to appear from radio!! After looking for "burn" damage, found out fan and radio no longer worked and srs light was on in dash. All other electrical appears fine(alt is charging, windows, wipers, lights, including interior function correctly). I traced fan and radio problem back to ignition feed from fuse box. I jumped y vio from ignition to input of blower and system works fine. Radio would not work after getting power to it. I could see no melted wires and problem "tests"to be in 12" y vio hidden wire from either ign or blower ,although no physical damage is evident . All fuses are fine.
The SRS light is also on know. I can not seem to get behind fuse box to see where break is..could all 3 items be same issue? Is there another relay to look for?

When you say "fan", do you mean the A/C fan and not the engine cooling fan, correct?
If you saw smoke out of the radio, something inside may have fried (unless the electrical connector was fried/cannot remember if there was another internal fuse within the radio). If you can trace it down to an individual component, replacing the component (I assume condenser/capacitor) may restore the radio. As to the fan, the resistor/power stage assembly may be shot.
Jump-starting a modern car is not recommended, though sometimes it is the only option. I found 99% of the people I saw were doing it the wrong way; directly connecting battery to battery. The correct procedure is to hook up the ground wire to any metal surface of the chassis with no paint on it (usually a part of the engine, as far away from the battery as possible).
See what others have to say.
