Default 850 GLT vs Turbo

Alright so me and my buddy both have 850's. Hes got a turbo from like 94 or something and I have a GLT from 95. I know GLT's don't have stock turbo and if possible I want to install one. So basically I wana know what I can do to get a GLT to be as fast or faster than an 850 Turbo which wont just be stock parts when hes done with it. I know at the moment hes getting a new turbo and right now hes probably at around 200hp and I might be around the same, I'm looking into a turbo, cold air, suspension, new brakes, pretty much everything that can give me a little edge over him. My other question is even with as many upgrades as possible is it better just to find an 850 Turbo or can a GLT ever edge out a fully upgraded turbo?

to add a turbo to a non-turbo car and have it run right, you're looking at a bit more than just adding a turbo. Youd need to add a turbo, add oil and coolant lines for the turbo, change the ECU, add intercooler piping and an intercooler, change your pistons, etc. It's not as simple as just throwing on a turbo.

But to answer your question: it would be a lot easier and cheaper to buy a turbo 850 and upgrade that.

It's easy to be faster it's called NITROUS or as some like to call it NOS and a lot of it...make sure it is a wet/dry kit. 100-150 shot should do the trick!!

1. Sell your N/A and buy a turbo model and mod from there.

2. If you have to mod this car do it but expect to PAY PAY PAY. It's not hard to turbo your car, but it isn't cheap and it is not something the typical person can do themselfs to save money.

- Turbo
- Turbo oil lines or water lines
- Intercooler
- Intercooler hard pipes
- Intercooler hoses
- Hose clamps or better T-bolt clamps
- Vacumm lines
- Boost Gauge
- Downpipe
- Catback system
- Most importantly ECU tuning. Which really an off the shelf tune isn't going to work well. Your going to have to dyno tune to get the best tune and then your talking even more bucks.

Overall I would expect you to spend $5k plus to do it right. And that means new parts not junked parts that still work.

Isn't the engine wiring harness different between turbo and NA as well?

Schematic i have shows the injectors are wired differently.

Like they said, it is easier(less expensive) to get new turbo car than make one.
