850 hazard lights on when ignition switched off
My brother has an 850, and when the ignition is switched off the hazard lights come. the engine runs fine and if the fuse is removed it can be driven. But the indicators don't work obviously. Is it likely to be a relay, if so where are they located? any help suggestions would be good
Welcome to the forum.
If you leave the fuse in, engine running, are the four way flashers blinking or can you use the turn signals ??
Fuse in, when you turn the car off do the four way flashers start up or are they running all the time, ignition on an off ??
It's helpful if you add some basic info like year, sedan/wagon, auto/manual, turbo/NA in your signature so you don't always have to repeat it. That and a location is nice.

Hi thanks for the quick reply. The car is a NA 1988 auto saloon, location Suffolk. With the engine running, fuse in, all four indicator lights are on continuously indicators don't work. Fuse in, ignition off, all indicators/hazard lights on continuously. Will update my signature thanks.
850's only ran from '93 to '97.
The flasher control is in the switch. I would try to whiggle the key in the ignition when it is started to see if that helps. If not, you can try pulling and replacing the switch/controller.

What he said, it's likely the switch that's bad or stuck on.
Inside the emergency flasher switch is the flashing control for the turn signals too. It's pretty much the only thing that can cause the problem you describe.

Thanks for suggestions. The main Volvo agent no longer supports spares for 850s. There is a shop nearby that is a Classic Volvo specialist which is where I am off to on Monday, he has been helpful in the past when the fuel pump needed replacing. I miscalculated the age its M reg s its 96 I think. I will update when flasher switch is changed Thanks
