850 Non-turbo starting problems
Hi,
My 1994, 850 non-turbo has intermittent starting problems that seems to be related to condensation situations related to rainy weather or snow. A recent situation: after a snow fall, the car started and was moved in the driveway for snow removal and then wouldn't start again. It would crank but not catch. Started finally after a long jump to keep it cranking. Dist cap and ignition wires were all new. Has the original coil, do you think I should just replace it? This problem has happened periodically over the vehicle's history since we bought it new. Only has 60k on it.
Thanks

no..it has all the symptoms of wet wires etc...finally a few cyl caught and then it started. Do you know if the codes would still be there if no one cleared them? the checkengine light was not on
what do you mean by wet wires?
Did you see if the cap and rotor is burnt or corroded?
D you have water around the plugs?
You have to check your spark, if you have intermittent spark you may have a bad connection somewhere. My OEM coil is 15 yeas old and have never had lack of spark.
Id defiantly do some more diagnosis before you come to that conclusion.
If you have proper spark then it may be a fuel delivery issue.
If you dont have the CEL light on, most likely you dont have codes, but id try and see if there are any stored anyway.
