I was wondering if it was possible to (or if anyone already has) replace the unnecessarily long power antenna mast with a functional shark fin antenna from a newer model volvo.

 

I'm sure you can, its just that it might be hard finding one that contours to our body style.

 

That's true. If anyone is good with photoshop, could someone make a pic of an 850 with the shark fin antenna? Just to see if it would look stupid or not.

 

You would have to find a universal one that is flat. Also, you would have to run the antenna to the roof and more then likely drill a hole in the roof for the wire. If you end up doing it, I would like to see some pictures of it when it is done.

 

IMO they always look stupid. Buy yourself a hideaway antenna. Metra makes one around $40.

That is a GPS antenna, no you want something like the 44-UA20. It will do normal AM,FM in place of your mast. Make an antenna plug and paint it for a finished look.
