Default 850 stalls accelerating from idle only when warm

I have a narrower issue that is similar to other past threads. 1995 850 turbo wagon with auto tranny starts quickly when cold and always runs well when first started and when at or above 1,500 rpm and the engine is warm. However, once the engine is warm, when the car is stopped and engine is at idle ANY acceleration will result in sputtering and stalling. If the engine is warm and turned off, attempting to restart while still warm will result in sputtering and almost never restarting until the engine has cooled. When the engine is running warm, I can avoid the problem by using my left foot to brake and pressing on the gas pedal enough to keep the engine at or above 1,500 rpm. This keeps the engine running smoothly. I tested the MAF sensor by getting the engine warm and unplugging the MAF. No change in problem. Any help/insights greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Hoonk! I am one of the "lucky" owners of a 1995 850 that has both the OBDI unit under the hood and the OBDII DCL in front of the shift lever on the center console. Will the DCL be active and is there a way can I tell without buying an OBDII scanner?

Here are the codes for the OBDI port and a video.

Just use the under hood port to retrieve codes. You might be able to get ECU codes but not the other stuff that's available with the ports under the hood.

Some auto parts stores will scan your car for free - if you are curious you could see if one of their scanner works in the console.

I'd be surprised if an OBD2 reader would work with the OBD1 port in the 93-95s due to the differences in the protocols, but easy enough to use the under the hood diagnostics port. Another good resource on how to's is volvotips.com. PS you can also google for instructions on how to make your own code reader for the interior port (under the rubber coin tray in the console). Basically its a switch and an LED.

Actually, I have two OBD ports and a Volvo dealer said that on some of the 1995 850s both are active and work. There is an OBD1 unit under the hood in the usual place behind the passenger side headlight and an OBD2 port in front of the shift lever in the center console. I will check the OBD1 codes and report back when it stops raining here (3 or 4 days). Thanks for all the input!!
