Default 850 starter interchangeabl

So I have a 1995 Volvo 850 and I guess the starter is going out on it because it has been getting progressively worse and worse when you go to crank it makes this horrible sound and finally turns over. Everyone that I talk to you or hears it says that's what the problem is my question is this may be very stupid forgive me I'm just starting out working on vehicles and have to do it by myself because I don't have a lot of money or have a mechanic at my disposal so my question is can I interchange starter from my 2006 Ford explorer and put it on my Volvo 850. And I'm certain that that has a lot to do with the size of the motor and if the flywheel is the same but I have this explorer that suddenly doesn't work and that's a whole another issue in and of itself but while it's down and probably won't be able to be fixed because it hurts the timing chain nonetheless it has a good starter on it can I put it on my 850.

No, you cannot. Go to the junk yard and find an 850 starter.

Or taking the starter out and having it rebuilt is a good option too. I've done that a number of times; usually runs about $100 to $150.
