Angry 850-T abs on/no speedo/no odo falls on its face!

Hello I just joined because i bought my first Volvo a 1996 850 Turbo and so far a love it. Have always had Saabs and I am very new to Volvos.
I'll start with speedo does not work ABS light on and odometer doesn't work either. I have no communication with the ABS unit so i ordered a replacement.
Second it throws codes P0440 and P0172. When i step on the gas it falls on its face hard take 999 years to rev up undo full pedal but half pedal it runs better.
Also today i went to started and it would fire right up then stall. It did this a few times until i feathered the throttle a few times for 30 seconds then it cleared up and drove fine.
then shutt it off went in the store started it and it did the same thing again and had to feather the throttle for 30 seconds and it cleared up. Also the front door speakers don't work
but the dash and rear ones work just fine. Also putting it in sport mode after first gear it falls really hard on its face then shifts to second and 0 boost.
What am I looking at here? a pointer in the right direction to fixing these issues would be much appreciated.

P0440 is an evap leak - usually a torn j-tube back by the cannister

P0172 is a fuel trim (rich) - common cause is a vaccuum leak.

Look for torn loose hoses. If you are lucky, its the vacuum hose to the Evap purge valve (two-fer repair).
Start at the vacuum tree under the throttle cable rewind.

Since the car is new to you, you may want to do a "stage 0" tune up - plugs, wires, rotor, cap. Wires have a date code on them - anything over 5 years are due. I bet the wires are like 10 years old :-) Note you can remove the distributor cap as is but its a PITA getting to the lower screw. Easy button is to remove the intake air box. Plus that will also let you inspect other vacuum lines etc that go down to the turbo.

If the tune up and vacuum line fixes don't clean up your engine stumbles, next would be to check fuel pressure. RobertDIY has a good vid on Youtube for this (along with a ton of other topics. Last, if you need shop manual for stuff, check out volvotips.com

speed sensors, ABS and speedometer/odometer are all related. Sensors go into the ABS controller, which then talks to the speedo. Common issue is cracks in the controller solder. Check out Rocha-tek, midwest ABS for symptoms and fixes or you can go used and drop in a replacement controller.
