850 t5r wierd smell , slight rough idle
I don't drive the car many miles each week. I have noticed that the idle is a little rough like a low reving. i also noticed a wierd smell. I smell it after i drive it on the beltway and then get off and go to a redlight. The smell can be smelt from inside the cabin. I did have a sticking rear caliber that was giving a smell from it making the rear pads being stuck to the rotor and wearing down. I fixed /replaced the caliber and figured it would get rid of the smell. It did seem that when i put my face down to the wheel it didn't have that burnt metal smell anymore. I would compare the smell that i am getting would compare to the same smell as when i had the sticking caliber. Smeels like a metal to metal type smell not a buring rubber smell or a rotten egg smell .I have checked the other calibers and they are fine. The car runs great otherwise. Thanks for any help

rotten eggs
Normally the smell of rotten eggs comes from a battery that is boiling over. I am currently having the same problem with my S70 T5 but I haven't had the time to check it out so I am not driving it. This could be caused by a wire that is grounded out somewhere. The battery is the only part of a car that I know of that makes this very distinct smell of rotten eggs.

Rotten egg smell can also be the cat falling apart. If it is, and it's blocking up the exhaust, that can also cause your rough running. But, that's just a guess.
It's possible to run without a cat (if your state allows) and use a spacer between the pipe and cat, but I'll have to remember where I saw that...
