Default 850 turbo help

I have another question about my 94 850 turbo. I LOVE the acceleration it gets when turbo kicks in (who doesn't) but I feel like its a little sluggish on take off, in my opinion. Is there anything I could do to get better off the line acceleration, or at least better throttle response?

That is a usual turbo lag, there isn't much you can do except swap the turbo with different unit that fits (I don't know of any but you can search).

Auto manufacturers trieda fewthings to eliminate or reduce turbo lag, the following is what they did:

1. Divided turbocharger into 2 smaller units, instead of one to reduce inertia (twin turbo).
2. Used 2 stages for the turbocharger (called sequential turbo).
3. Used turbine & compressor assembly madeof ceramic in order to reduce inertia.

Unfortunately, yes the turbo on 850 does not producemuch thrustuntil about 3,000 RPM & up.

You can swap the turbo. If you can get the right sized turbo, you can essentially eliminate lag. Unfortunetely, I don't know which size turbo you would want to get...

Have you done all routine maintenance? If you have any dirty components (PCV system maybe), that might be causing your car to run slightly sluggish...

But honestly, the lag isn't that bad...It's kind of nice to be able to drive n/a and conserve some fuel..

Is there a way I can at least improve throttle response?

cut the muffler off =). i run the same 15g turbo on my civic and i have a cutout for the exhaust. it just uses a short y-pipe after the downpipe but before the catalytic converter. with the cutout closed and stock exhaust i cant rev past 4,000 because the exhaust builds up to quick in the 1.75" piping.

1. Be sure to complete STAGE ZERO first. This can be found in the link in my signature. Not the one that says "MODS", but the other link right above the picture.

2. Put a K&N panel filter into your car and or EST's intake system. You will feel a slight throttle response from doing this.

3. Better turbo. With that an ECU upgrade would be highly recommended. And or add a MBC (Manual Boost Controller) instead of a turbo upgrade and ECU upgrade.

Eh, I wouldn't recommend this...

Don't cheap out, just buy a better exhaust system w/ larger piping. You want as little back pressure as possible (Turbo cars ONLY)

Also electronix dump highly illegal for use on the streets. HIGHLY illegal. This should only be used when on the track. Also a local shop can fab you up a nice catback for under $400 usually.

If nothing else satisfies you, here's your last resort. You may need beefed-up brakes. Watch out for over-boosting, too. This will eliminate your turbo lag, as well as many other things[8D].
