Exclamation 850 Turbo- Low RPM Stalling

Hello,
I am having a slightly intermittent issue that is starting to happen more frequently. My car will start okay, but then want to sputter and die out. It will sometimes stabilize or I will have to start it again. It was very troublesome today, but I had to make it home. I pulled the codes from the A2 port and got EGR flow malfunction, Rear O2 sensor, and Boost Pressure Regulation. I dont think these codes tell much because I have had these for a while, minus the Boost Pressure Regulation. I could not get a response from the A6 port. I am changing my spark plugs tomorrow because they are needed but I dont believe these are the problem. I am leaning towards fuel pump relay or coolant temp sensor, but I could be way off. Also, I can get a faint smell of gas which made me think coolant temp sensor because it might be dumping extra fuel. Thanks for any input

put the new plugs in, one of the old ones was not even tight :| put everything back together and took the car for a short drive. everything seemed to be normal but Im going to go for another short drive later to be sure since the problem has been relatively intermittent

Back to as bad as before. Smoked really bad this time when it sputtered. Didn't start acting up until I went probably five miles. Seems to be worse when warm

Isn't "EGR FLOW MALFUNCTION" really just any leak between the turbo and the cylinders (again?) I may be mis-remembering. This would also prevent effective boost pressure regulation, and you wouldn't be able to keep the rear O2 sensor in the proper range either.

There is another thread on this in the last couple of days.

If it actually is the EGR valve hanging open, you could take the vacuum off it and see if that makes it behave, or at least be consistent.

Ok. Well the boost pressure regulation has not come back, I think I know what caused that. I will try the egr, but I swapped the coil from my other 850 and took it for a ride. Seemed ok but I'm not saying for sure yet cause it did the same thing yesterday

well the problem seems to have come back. on my way back to college car was fine for about 20 miles, i had about 15 to go. it was about mid 80s that day. The car started running rough, meaning I had to pretty much stay on the gas to keep it running. When I had to stop at a light it shut off. It started right back up but did not want to run. I was able to pull over and pull codes but got none. once it sat for a while it seemed ok but acted up again when it got hot. Still idles rough and I have not driven it far since. Really need a dependable car so some advice is greatly appreciated, thanks

Might be of some help, but the MAF sensor. It went out on my car shortly after I bought it. Most of the time I would start the car and it would just die. A few times I could get it going and get it to stabilize, but it would not idle that well. The MAF sensor is a somewhat common component to fail.

thinking i should unplug it and see if i get a difference?
Since the MAF is electrical could it act up only when hot? Im not getting a code for the MAF so thats why I wasn't thinking of that as a culprit

Ok so three new-ish things
1 when starting the car it revs high, to about 3 grand
2 seems to fall flat during boost
3 idle are control buzzing with key in "on" position

I am no expert, but thinking on this a little more, I would clean your IAC. The flapper inside can get jammed or gunky so to speak. besides the MAF, that can also give you stalling or wandering idle.

No codes are usually fuel related. When was the last time the fuel filter was replaced?

1. ECT
2. FPR
3. Vacuum lines.
4. Turbo hoses.

I have cleaned the IAC before, but will do it again.
RSPI, the ECT and FPR, I have not looked into, but would they not both throw a code? Vacuum lines are good, and Turbo hoses looked good but I will give them another look.
Fuel filter is a little over a year old.
I drove the car probably around 100 miles over the weekend simply out of necessity and it was ok for the most part except for a wandering idle when stopping, but it was cool outside so the heat factor was not as involved. Thanks for the help guys

Total failure may yield a code.

Toss a jump wire in the relay slot for a few days and see if it helps.
