hello to all!

i have a 1996 volvo 854 turbo platinum edition that i have loved since the day i traded it for an ipod touch and a $340 motorcyle .
i have been working on it for some time and its running well now. lately there has been clicking randomly below the steering column. i figure its something electrical maybe a switch or relay. it runs fine despite the clicking. sometimes it doesnt click and sometimes it does. any help on what is causing this would be a great help.

 

It is hard to say. Is doing something specific triggering it?

 

sometimes it will click after 1 minute of starting the engine and other times it will start after 10 minutes sometimes none at all. only when engine is running it clicks, it clicks when the car is at idle, during acceleration, breaking, when coasting(not as much) and when the turn signals are on it clicks in rhythm with the blinkers as well. there are no flickering lights in the cabin. also after the car is switched off it will continue to click for a couple seconds. i still havent taken the bottom panel off yet to look a little more closely. i know my starter is going out(it wouldnt start one day and i took it to o'reilys auto parts and the guy there banged on the starter and it started right up lol)

 

Next time it acts up try activating the door locks and see if it stops.
