check your fuel filter, and your catalytic converter may be clogged

Maybe...It could be a lot of things.
Can you try to describe it a little better? Any check engine light? when was the last maintenance/tune up? Is the car a stick or Auto?

Could be your exhaust manifold thats detached not sure how it happens but that was me 3 weeks ago.

I would also check the air filter. Actually, a decent tune up including new OEM plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and oil change should only cost about $100 and time spent. I would give that a shot first.

See my 2nd reply in the following thread for a tune-up item list:

https://volvoforums.com/m_48928/tm.htm

And as already stated, check for blocked exhaust creating an excessive back pressure.
