850 Wheel Bolts Steel to Alloy
Hello All
I have just got a set of T5 alloy wheels for our Volvo 850 1997 GLE Estate and I have been told not to use the steel wheel bolts, I then went ahead and googled it and found it to be a gray area, some say it is BS and others say they will keep on loosening, any ideas?
Is there a Difference?
Can I just swop the wheels and use the original bolts?
Cheers Spiktos
Great Forum by the way

I have just Measured the Bolt with a pair of Electronic Calipers and they are coming up the same size as a replacement pair on ebay,
20 * 12x1.75 Wheel bolts fits VOLVO 850 1.75mm M12x1.75 TUV Approved | eBay
Am I missing something?, I think these will work, Genuine Wheels, Genuine Bolts, Tapered the lot?
I just need a second Opinion before Killing the wife

Yes there is a difference. The bolts for alloy wheels have more threads. I use my alloy bolts for my steel wheels in winter and for my alloy wheels in summer. Just make sure that your bolts are fully engaging the threads in your hub. Hope this helps.
