Hello everyone!

I have a 1997 Volvo 850 entirely original everything. I just swapped out the radio head unit for a single dinn flip-out dvd unit and have begun throwing some ideas of speakers around but have already ran into issues. I'd love to hear what you have done and pictures are always nice as well.

Here is what I am looking into putting into my car but as I have found out with my recent purchase of some 6x9's....Our Volvos weren't made with new age speaker configurations in mind.

Head unit(Currently have. Ideally I'd like to trade this away for a double dinn dvd unit..any takers?):Front Speakers:Rear Speakers(currently have):
Subwoofer:Amps(currently have both):

So that's what I'm thinking for this summer's project. I'll probably look into getting the JL components and the JL microsub first then fill in the front dash speakers last. My concern is that these are new-age speakers and the volvo's speaker mounts are very shallow. I don't mind busting out the dremmel and cutting things but I'm wondering what you all have experienced. I'm also interested to hear your thoughts on this set up. I use to run a JL 10w7 and I know for a fact my hearing is affected because of it; so I'm not looking to flex my windows out anymore or make neighbor's windows rattle.

Now if I can just find someone that wants to teach me how to sew leather seats together...

 

You are going to need to cut out the rear deck and install new grills if you go with 6 X 9's.
