Default 850 Won't start-humming sound-warning lights

Hello..Just tried starting my 97 855 and its totally dead. some of the indicator lights come on and stay on even after I remove the key (SRS, transmission mode arrow, service, check engine). I am also hearing a humming sound from the engine. Also the transmission mode arrow keeps flashing. After a minute the humming stops and the indicator lights all turn off. I tried jumping it and get the same result.
Any feedback as to what may be causing this is appreciated.
Many Thanks!

When you jump the car, make sure you have the cables hooked up properly. NOT both cables to both batteries. Also, You have to let it sit for a few minutes with the good / boost car running with about a 2k rpm. It just doesn't hook and boost.

Thanks..I hooked up a booster pack to jump but didn't let it sit. Would I be better off trying to jump from my truck? I did notice that my 850 was having a tough tme starting last week..It would start but it seemed like the battery was hurting.

If you live in a cold climate, it's best to turn the lights on and put the car in II for about 30 seconds to let the battery warm up and fire better during a cold start.

When was the battery last replaced?

I live in NH and it has been very cold. I would guess the battery is at least 5 years old.
I'm thinking I should just replace it. Is there anything I should know which could cause me problems when removing the old battery and installing the new one? I really appreciate your feedback.

Remove negative terminal. remove positive terminal. take battery out of car. Take to battery shop. Buy new battery of same size. Installation is reverse of removal.

Though the battery hold down is gonna basolutely blow your mind. =)

Time to check to see what codes are present in the ECU.
