Default 850R been sitting for 4 years.

Just bought a 1997 850R with 160,000 miles that hasn't ran or been cranked in 4 years. Im going to put fogging oil in the cylinders and do an oil change as well as siphon out the old gas. What other things should I do before I attempt to crank it? im particularly worried about making sure the turbo is lubricated

Timing belt, tensioner and idler pulley was changed 5 years ago and only has about 10,000 miles. I'm not sure how cracked or worn it is having been sitting for so long.

Takes one minute to take the upper timing cover of to check the condition of the timing belt.

Definately oil change and new gas . I wanted to know if my turbo was getting oil so i cracked the banjo bolt be into the turbo.haha lets just say it was working fine. . Check the belts for cracks and make sure coolant is full. That should be good to just start.

Welcome to VolvoForums SirTophamHat

Fresh gas and a filter.
Check the timing belts condition.
Pull the ignition coil wire from the distributor and ground it. Pull the fuel pump fuse to keep from flooding the engine and then crank the engine over. Do it a few times for a reasonable period of time. Don't want to cook the starter. That will build oil pressure and lube all the bearings and the turbo.
Plug in the coil wire, fuel pump fuse and give it a shot.

I'd do the oil after I got it started and running and warmed up a bit.

The lifters will take about 15 minutes to quiet down, but don't let that scare you.

I forgot about that. Don't rev it, just let it idle and heat up. I remember I let mine sit for a few weeks (months?) and when I started it up it rattled like crazy at first. Sounds like the engines going to rattle apart. It's funny how you forget little things like that and then the memory of it is like yesterday once you're reminded.
