I thought the fog lights were controlled by the headlight relay? I was told the only thing I'd have to change was the headlight relay to one that supported fog lights.

Its not in the headlight relay, it has its own. Some cars are prewired, some are not. You may be prewired but not have the main relay (which is in the relay box at your feet.) If your not prewired there is a kit. If you dont want to do any of that you can add your own (I did).

Under the steering wheel, look down under you'll see a kick panel held on with three or four screws.

Remove that. Now get a flashlight and get on your back. Remove all the color-coded relays (6-8 i think) you will see a spot for another J relay up in the right or left hand corner IIRC.

Put the J relay in that slot. Now just put the LCR jumper in its slot, test to see if the fogs turn on.

I'm assuming you have the relays underhood installed. The fogs should now work.

It's easy to put back in all the other relays but remove the LCR jumper relay to put all relays back in as well as the LCR (light control relay jumper).

This is copied and pasted from me and OP's pms:

OP: I have not put in any relays yet, do not know where they go. the 108/104 relay goes where? and the walk me home relay?

Me from here on out: The walk me home relay is the same as the 108/104 relay from what I remember, just make sure you get one from a donor car equipped with fog lights.

Also, there should be 3 J relays underhood not 2 like I said earlier.

In total you need 5 J relays.

if you got it (walk me home relay) from a 99+ with no foglights then your fog lights would not turn on because the relay would not acknowledge them.

(Taken from a VS user post)
This (walk me home relay) is the relay that goes under the fuse box in the engine bay. It allows you to hit your high beams after the car is off... the low beams will stay on for 30 seconds in order to "light the way". Its a standard feature for a 99+ x70's.

Now where the fog light aspect of the title comes in. There is a 99+ relay the supports fogs and one that does not. Same as an 850 or any prior x70. if your car has fogs, and you want to upgrade your headlight relay to a 99+ one. than it must have foglight support in order to work.

If you use a relay that does not have fog light support, than your fog lights will not work. regardless of the euro foglight mod, which involves opening the relay and re inserting the pins.

Here's another light mod to do after you've figured out the foglights.

Euro light mod:

Me: So from what I remember, you need if your car is prewired:

5 J relays(3 under hood,2 under dash)

108/104 Light Control Relay (walk me home relay from a 99+ car)

LCR Jumper (213 relay) (goes under dash)

Foglight switch

I hope you all pay it forward!
