Default 93 Volvo dies

Got a 93 Volvo, and it has been dieing while sitting at red lights, or just creeping along in traffic. Seems to happen when it is really hot or raining. The Check Engine light comes on for a split second and boom its dead. It does this sometimes while going above 10mph but the check engine light will come on and the rpms will go to zero but it keeps going(It does it for a split second similiar to a hiccup) I think that it is only a matter of time before it starts dieing while going a considerable speed. When the check engine light comes on while driving it goes right back off and the car runs perfect afterwards. Some days will run great. Others such as today died 3 times on the way home (9 mile trip). Starts right back up. Im wondering if this is the fuel relay or a relay of sorts. Just strange that the check engine light comes on and it has me kind of worried. I have owned the car for the past 5 years. My dad bought it new off the lot. So i know all the service that has ever been done to it. It has roughly 200000 miles (The odometer stopped working for a couple of years).

Any help would be appreciated,
Robert

If the check engine light comes on, it means there is a error code stored in your diagnostic system.

Being a 93 model means you have the easy to read OBD-I under your bonnet.

Check out this thread and see if you can retrieve the codes. That will give us a good head start as to what is causing the issue.

Were you able to access the codes from your OBDI port
