Default 94 850 transmission no reverse

The girl friend called that the car was driving funny, shifting weird. So I drove over and we tried it out. I was trying it out while she was in the store and it wold drive forward in reverse! Shifting felt like it was confused. She limped it home and I took it to my house this morning.
Yesterday she was sure she saw a "flashing arrow on the dash for a time" but there was none last night and the reverse lights have been working.
I tried the 20x cycling of the shift lever to get a temp fix of any kind, no use.
I drove it to my house this morning and once in my driveway (and I may need to become religious here) I lost all the gears. Just before that coming down the road (in the rain) it shuddered a bit and the tires chirped a few times. Almost like they had stopped for a split second.
Now I have a flashing arrow and need to figure out how to check that code.
I will get back with that info.

From the A1 port I have a 2-3-2 code
Well a no speedo signal is a waste of time.
Based on the other info I have read last night and at Volvospeed where this was stated: "The requirement to replace the PNP switch is usually prompted by the up arrow on your instrument cluster flashing" This is my next step.

What have you done? Have you checked the fluid level? Have you changed the fluid?

There is a good chance that the PNP switch is going out. The rolling shifter thing doesn't always work.

Thanks rspi, can always count on you. I used your video to brush up on how to check the codes.
Tranny fluid is new last year & level is good. I was just out there again and attempted to move it. Same deal as before but at least the thing moved. So I got in into position to work on and will take out the PNP now.

Ok got it out and ordered a new one. Found the trans dip stick holder could be played with and not totally removed. The sheet metal bends a bit. I did not remove the air box hold down and had no issue getting out the PNP.

I see it has adjustable placement and was wondering how that was done?
