Default 94 850 turbo instrument cluster swap

the fuel gauge of the one in the car does not register. after many diagnostics done, the final solution is to replace the whole cluster. we got one for the turbo 850R. installed it, then the ABS light came on, then the transmission arrow kept on blinking and the speedometer won't register any speed. replaced back the old one and all is well again.

is there anything different between the two clusters or am i missing anything? it's hard driving without a fuel gauge pls. help.

also, is there any aftermarket external fuel gauge that will match the resistance of the float unit? i saw equus gauges but i don't know which among the three model will match.

again thanks in advance for any input

Yes, only 94/95 clusters are interchangeable and 96/97 clusters are interchangeable. In 94/95 there is a speed sensor on the transmission for the the speedometer. In 96/97 Volvo used the ABS module for the speedometer.
