Default Wrong instrument cluster installed- 97 850

I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this. I just got a 97 850. The previous owner had the instrument panel replaced due to a bad odometer. The person that replaced it pulled one from a junkyard and the pulled one has the trip computer info. Original this was not what the car had so now it just reads the time and DISC on the display. Could I get a switch and connect it and have the trip computer or do you have to have sensors, etc?
Just wondering if the sensors are already there and just need the switch and display to utilize them or should I look for the correct cluster with just the time and temp display?

Anyone ever tried this?

Thx,
Rob Rike

PS- Thanks Tech for the info on the missing from degreasing. I degreased the engine and the car had a terrible miss. Pulled the cover and the plug holes were half full of water. Soaked it all up with long needle nose and paper towels and added dielectric grease to the boots and all is well. Anyone know what it means when the CEL goes from flashing to steady and back? Had to drive about 5 miles while missing and under heavy missing the light would flash instead of staying on steady. All seems well now, just curious why the flash sometimes?

If your 850 is 1995 or later, then you can get a "INFO" switch, install the switch into its location, connect the clock/info display (that has a separate harness) and the switch, and it should work.
I believe that the harness comes out of the info display, and you will need only the switch.

Try pulling the speedo out, and see if there is a harness w/ a plug (coming out of the clock/info unit) that is not connected to anything. If you see it, then just get the switch.

Let me know if it worked.

The switch install should take care of the trip computer.

The Cel flashes telling you that you have a missfire.

Thank you M1964 and Tech for the reply. I will look around for a switch and pull the cluster and connect it. I have a bulb out by the tach anyway so I will fix it and add the switch when I find one. M1964, I will keep you posted on it once finished. Still having a misfire that I think are the plug wires and too much water. Everything is dry now but the wires are original with 140k so the water may have toasted them. Ran fine for about 20 miles after getting water out of the spark plug holes then started up again with the missing. [] Also discovered today the rear main is leaking so I have some work cut out for me but will keep this post updated.
Thanks again guys,
Rob
