Was wondering if anyone knows about a motor swap. I have a 95 Volvo 850 with a 2.4l 10 valve dohc non turbo. Motor is burning a lot of oil. Can I put in a 2.4l 20 valve non turbo engine without any problems? Car has 300,000. on it. I removed the cylinder head last year and had it rebuilt for smoking on start up. Now the car smokes steady, really bad on start up and puffs blue when driving away after a red light etc. Oil is getting into throttle body and causing run on. PCV valve looks ok and rattles, was thinking engine rings worn out? Can buy a motor for $400.00 in CA. Cheaper than me doing a rering on it.

 

Where are you located that has the 2.4l 10 valve?

 

Canada, Calgary Alberta to be exact.

 

If you were to do that you would also have to change the ECU to the 20 valve as well.

 

my 94 850 has a 20 valve 5cyl engine in it, dont see why it wouldnt swap into yours. course, im new to this make of volvos, so im not sure if my engine would be 100% drop in swap with your year.
