Volvo 850 Made from 1993 to 1997, this Volvo line was available in both a wagon and a sedan, both with were graced with several trim levels.

95/850se locks doors and wont start when key turned ?? help pls

Smile 95/850se locks doors and wont start when key turned ?? help pls

car had main engine seal replaced a week ago. since then some times it wont start when I turn th key it just locks the doors all lights on dash r on but nothing happens. if I continue t try eventually it just starts ??? battery seems ok. radio also loses code when this happens. if I hold key in on position fr more than 3 sec this some times works but not always. pls help if u can. much appreciated.

Take the battery to an auto parts store and have it charged. Then clean your battery post/cables.

I agree with RSPI, do the following:

1. Have your charging system checked, free at most auto parts locations. This will verify your battery and alternator
2. You may also be experiencing the infamous ignition switch

thanks lots for ur advice guys. I hv recharged the battery and so far so good. so ur advice has been very helpful . again thanks.

A loose battery connection would cause this as well ...check the clamps

That's it, I'm never using this forum again. People ask a question, I give a quick answer and they don't like it. So they ask again and again until someone types a 4 paragraph response, like doing a mini seminar or class on the issue. I'm not taking this abuse any more.
