'96 850 seat belt replacement
Hello all, just found this site and love it!!
I have a question about replacing the drivers-side frontseat belt of my '96 850.The seatbeltseems irrversibly stuck and obviously needs to be replaced. The problem I'm seeing is that the seat belt tensioner assembly is contained within the same assembly as one of the SRS Gas Generators. The last thing I want to do is set off my airbag while just replacing a seat belt. Anyway, I was hoping to repair this myself but I haven't been able to find any information about how this should be done and any gotchas there might be.
I assume the seat belt tensioner assembly will just slide out after I remove the entire assembly from the door pillar. I can see that there is a tab that may be holding it in the larger aassembly?? The dealer wants $330 andFCP Groton doesn't carry them.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks in adavance!!

RE: '96 850 seat belt replacement
It is pretty easy to replace it.
Once the plastic b-pillar cover is removed then there is 3 screws holding it in there.
You are supposed to disconnect the battery when replacing it.
But I never do. Make sure the key is off. Unplug the plug for the seatbelt.
Then remove the screws and replace. Then plug it back in and you should be fine.
