Default Drivers door

I have a 95 850 turbo and my drivers door pops when I open it. Can you tell me if I need to replace the hinge
and if I do how difficult of a job is it? I think when I had an 88 740 used to do the same thing too. Is this a common problem?

Thank you for your time. Tito

There could be a couple of different things doing it.
First pull the little boot away from the body and make sure the bolt isn't loose.
The Body of the car also tears and has to be welded back.
Sometimes the check strap will break and pop.

I just happened to remember that I read about this and there was a link on an easy and quick non-welding fix. Check out this site and let us know if it works for you. I also put the link in the General Forum under links that stays at the top of the forum.

Hope this helps you out.

But the 850's and the S70 break the weld in the door jam,Or the bolt comes loose, or the door check strap breaks.

afbere, any more information on this?

Thank you, my passenger door is popping and I think it's flexing the metal (making the metal pop) and will tear out like http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/cha...sc&start=0

... scary.

Try tightening the bolts, that is what fixed ours, but Tech is right, the check straps do seem to break easily. Hope you are lucky and it only needs the bolts snugged up.

Crap. Mine is tearing/torn at the spot welds. Need to bolt and washer it up! !! Scary. Fortunately it's the passenger door only (weird), =)
