That's the factory's; "Hey, stop in to a stealership so we can look at your car and charge you for it." light. You can (a) pull the bulb, (b) head to a dealership everytime it goes on so they can turn it off for you, (c) ignore it 'til it burns out or (d) read this post on what to purchase:

S70 and V70 and C70 and XC70
1. Press and hold odometer reset button.
2. Turn ignition switch to Run.
3. After SRL flashes, release odometer reset button.
4. Confirm by turning your Volvo off, then on again.
1996 Model (Some of them)
On these models the diagnostic socket is in front of the gear stick. Switch the ignition on. As you look at the speedometer on the dash, beneath it opposite the trip reset button is a rubber plug. Remove the plug and with a thin pointer such as a ball point pen, depress the pin. This will reset the service light.
1999 Model Service Lamp Reset Procedure
1. Press and hold trip odometer reset button
2. Turn ignition key to run position KPII (not the start position)
3. Wait 30 seconds or until service light begins blinking
4. Release Trip Odometer button
5. Turn ignition to off position
SERVICE LAMP ON 1994 + 1995 850
1. Turn on the ignition to the KPII position so the warning lamps on the dash are illuminated. Do not start the car.
2. Open the bonnet of the car and locate Diagnostic test port (A) behind the driver side headlamp.
3. Remove the cover and pull the jumper wire out of the holder in the cover.
4. Insert the jumper into terminal #7, then press button 4 times, wait approximately 5 seconds and the red lamp should glow continuously. You are now in the data reset mode.
5. Press the button 1 time and wait approximately 5 seconds for the lamp to glow again then press the button 5 times. After about 5 seconds the lamp will illuminate again, press the button 1 time and you will see the lamp flash repeatedly for a couple of seconds indicating that the service lamp has been properly reset.
6. If a mistake is made, simply switch the ignition off and back on to reset and start over.
Volvo 240, 1990-93 740, 1989-92; 760, 1986-90; 850 1993-95 w/Yazaki Cluster*, 940,960, 1991 -95
*Odometer above speedometer needle.
When “SERVICE” light is illuminated, remove cap on face of instrument panel between clock and speedometer. Insert a thin bladed tool into cavity and press reset button
Volvo 240, 1987-89
When “SERVICE” light is illuminated, reach behind instrument panel and push lever (A) located between tachometer and speedometer.
Volvo 740, 1986-88; 780, 1988-90
When “SERVICE” light is illuminated, reach behind the instrument panel and press button (A) located to right of the speedometer.
Volvo 2002-04; V70, XC7O, XC9O, S40, S60, S80
Ignition position I. Press and hold in the reset button for the trip odometer. Ignition position II. NOTE: TURN THE KEY TO POSITION II WITHIN 2 SECONDS! Hold the reset button for the trip odometer pressed in until the original value has been reset. The information lamp lights when the reset button must be released.
Release the reset button for the tnp odometer within 4 seconds. The instrument gives an audible signal when resetting has succeeded. If the trip odometer is already reset, the rest button must be held in for a minimum of 10 seconds and a maximum of 14 seconds.
