Default ABS light on, no headlights or turn signals

This has happened on two separate occasions and on each it was temporary. The ABS light stayed on yet I have no problem with the brakes. But the turn signals or headlights would not come on (I could still flash the high beams), and the shifter would not move out of Park (I had to push the Shifter Override button). Last time it happened, I stopped at a store to pick up something after driving it several miles, and when I returned to my car and restarted it, everything was normal. (Which was a good thing as it was getting dark.)
I wonder what could have caused that.

The ignition cylinder on my 850 is a tad loose. Sometimes after starting, I don't rotate it back far enough and the very thing you describe happens. If your ignition cylinder has a little bit of play, try rotating the key back a little bit and see if your lights come back.

What they said. My problem was an intermittent habit of dropping out of cruise and not engaging again. After a lot of reading and some playing with it found out it was the switch. Replaced and no further problems.

. Thank you for this I just purchased 1994 850 wagon for 400 good condition besides doors don't open from inside but that's nothing. Anyways I was having problems with headlights blinkers and shift override to get out of park. All of that was fixed by simply turning the key back a little after ignition. Now to fix the minor oil leak from the cap

You need to remember that if you need to "adjust" the switches position then it's wearing out and it's best to replace it while it's still working.
