96 Volvo 850 GLT automatic. ABS lite stays on . My front pads are very new. Could the rear pads be the problem or a bad wiring connection at the wheel etc. Help please.

 

I will bet the ABS module is bad and needs to be rebuilt.

 

I get this occasionally as well - my ABS and TRACS lights come on, and stay on for the duration of the trip. Are you getting any codes from the computer?

Just for your info, I'm getting 213 and 214, which translate to "Left rear wheel sensor, no signal on moving off" and "Right rear wheel sensor, no signal on moving off." I'm going to try cleaning the rear ABS sensors next weekend - will let you know if this helps. You might want to take a look at yours; apparently they can get dirty and throw bad codes.
