Default ABS, TRACS and fuel pump

Here's one for the records that i haven't seen on here before.

My son's 1997 850 GLT had the TRACS and ABS lights on so it made me think it's time to solder his ABS module. I order the tool to remove it. The next day, the car died on his way to work. That was a blown fuel pump fuse. I replaced it and it of course blew again, but not immediately, and this seems to indicate bad fuel pump.

In the course of getting the car moved, I notice the rear is bouncing a lot, so this means the dreaded broken upper shock mounts. I decide this is all too coincidental and take a look in the trunk. The broken shock mount had caught the ABS wires and pulled the connection apart, eventually cutting the connector off. It also was in the process of cutting through the fuel pump wires, but was only through the insulation. Whenever it bounced hard enough, the shock mount shorted the wires and blew the fuel pump fuse.

Once I get the new shock mounts and fix the wires, it should take care of everything else.

Fun stuff!!

Here are the pics. Sorry they are a few days late in coming. I replaced the upper shock mounts, repaired the wiring and replaced the fuel filter for good measure.

Fuel pump fuse issue resolved immediately. ABS and TRACS OFF lights went off as of this morning, so it looks like it's all good now. I love it when a plan comes together!
