Default AC Compressor not starting

I now have my first 850 model. but have owned 740 and 240 models in the past. My AC compressor
does not start, I have jumpered the switch on the low pressure line near the firewall with no luck.
I would really appreciate any thoughts from forum members from where to check now. Relays?
Any other wires to jumper? I have replaced the condenser so there is no refrigerant in the system at all

IIRC, there is a minimum amount of freon (in pressure) to have the compressor turn on. Without freon, it will never run. - AB

My Haynes manual mentioned jumpering the wires to override low pressure switch. I will
go ahead and put some 134a in the system anyway...Thanks.

Jumping the low pressure switch should turn the compressor on whether or not it has Freon. (Not reccomended without freon though)

Make sure when you jump it you get power to the compressor.

....and make sure to buy a can of R134a that has lubricating oil already mixed in it too,

Good luck,

the low pressure sensor is on the ac line that runs from the firewall back into the compressor.

trace the line from the firewall - as I recall you'll see it over by the overflow container. pull off the connector and you can jumper with a paper clip.

You might check and make sure you have voltage at the low pressure switch on one leg and check the wiring diagram to see where the other leg should go to see if the voltage is getting there. I have jumped the wires right at the compressor to make sure the compressor turns on there but don't do it for long if the system is dry.
