Default Airbox delete

Did some searching, but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for... my 850 Non-Turbo's airbox seems to be broken... wiggles in place like a bracket's broken or something. Still breathes fine tho as of now.

My question -- 1. do you vets recommend I try to find a replacement airbox or do a CAI setup, and

2. If CAI.. is there a good DIY with recommended parts sources? I'm new to Volvo, did all my work before with BMW.

Volvo>BMW btw

Thanks!

Just replace the box and install a K & N box filter.

check the mounts at the bottom of the box, sometimes the rubber footings just pop thru, or the mount is broken..

But otherwise do as rspi said, get a box or a mount whichever is broken from the JY and drop a k&n panel in. with a N/A a cai is pointless unless you just want it for the sound it makes.

Yeah I really didn't care as much about the sound as I did just fixing the issue. Haven't pulled the airbox yet. Not too familiar with Volvos and didn't wanna go screwing around with the MAF/etc..

If it's properly seated it would have a "spike" that slips into a rubber grommet in a plate against the fender and then the end nearest the engine would push down and snap into two holes at the bottom.

Best bet is pull yours all the way out and take a look at it.

Adding to Kiss, even with the box seated correctly it will still move around. It only mounts in three places, the two "spikes" and a pin in the fender. There is a rubber grommet in the fender, if that was missing it would move a lot.
