Default Antenna

My antenna won't go up or down but I can hear the motor running. I can move it up and down manually. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Default Antenna

I looked at the link. If I order this part would I be able to change it out myself?

Yes. Can you change a door **** on a house door? It's about that hard.

What you do is, turn the radio on, take the bolt off the top of the antenna where it attaches to the car, then pull out the old mass. Then feed the new mass cord into the motor, while pushing it down have someone turn the radio off. You will hear the motor trying to pull the antenna down, if it's not pulling it in stab at it until it does. It will run for a while before it stops.

Once it's down, put the bolt back on. Turn it off and on a couple of times to make sure it works fine. If the antenna doesn't go all the way down, there is to much of the old cord left in the motor. You will need to take the new mass out, take the antenna loose from the car (inside the trunk). Open the motor and remove the old plastic cord.

Great! I have never changed a door **** but I have removed and installed a faucet, I imagine the skills are pretty comparable. Thanks!

A faucet is harder. You are ready to do the timing belt.

Antenna mast.

There is a two part youtube for a madza. They are all similar. This will give you an idea if you think you might want to tackle it yourself.
If you can hear the motor run it's likely that it's stripped the teeth off the plastic lead on the antenna mast.

My antenna will only travel about 18 inches; it won't go all the way down.

The plastic usually breaks inside the motor. If your's will not go all the way down, there is a chance that there is a broken piece in there that needs to be taken out.

Default Another thing....

The motorized seat adjuster, driver's side: The motor works but only the preset things work. I cannot just move the seat, I was told it was some cable thing on the back of the seat that was not working. I ordered the part and a relative put it in. It worked for about 2 days. What went wrong? Everything is as it was before. Maybe he had never changed a door **** before, I didn't ask.

If the seat has all of it's movement but a certain button won't control it, I'd say you have a bad switch or switch control board. You may want to go to a junk yard and pull one. It should just pull up and unplug. Make sure you put the airbag safety clip in the side of the seat so no one triggers it.

Why would it work for a couple of days and then stop working if the part installed wasn't the right one? I can always hear the motor running when I push the button, it just doesn't do any thing when I try to adjust it with out the using the preset buttons.

What part did you order. What's the name or part number of the part. It helps if we know what you are talking about as the seat has a couple different motors and cables.

If you can hit a memory button to get the seat to move you should also be able to push the bi-direction buttons (forward/backward, tilt and incline) to get the same function to work. If it works from the memory button it would indicate the motor and connecting cables or gears are all functional and it might just be the switch itself.

Well, one switch and work and the other not. That happens with lights, windows, etc., all the time. The thing that stumpped me was the comment about the button making the motor run but the seat not moving. That would indicate a cable to me but if it moves with the preset button it makes no sense.
