I was told the turbo was "upgraded"..........not so sure.........only numbers I can see on it are 8911710-6 cast into the housing.


Can anybody id this? Or tell me how to find out which one it is? Thanks.

 

the number you need are on the other side on a little tag that's riveted into the aluminum. To be brutally honest, it looks like a factory 13t from an AWD wagon. Won't know for sure unless you look at the tag. Either get an inspection camera, or take the intake tube out, jack the front up, and crawl under the drivers side to see the tag from there. That's really the only way short of removing the turbo to tell what it is. I got good at distinguishing turbos from looking for an upgrade for my car at local DIY junk lots. I saw too many just like this and it thoroughly p'd me off. ANY Volvo turbos from the Mitsubishi family have the same basic design like this.

 

Not sure you have to take much off. I can get to my tag with a flashlight and a mirror.
