Any Volvo Dealerships on here?
I just bought a decent SC-816 Radio from a local pick-n-pull lot for my wife's Volvo 850 and was curious if anyone on here knows how to get the radio codes? I wrote down the VIN from the wrecked donor car.
Volvo 960 Radio (SC-816)
VIN: YV1KS9601W1124791
Radio Serial: V08160 V4179073
If anyone can PM or Email me (calebfrida@gmail.com) the code my wife will be very happy to have a working radio in her car again.
I called the local Volvo Stealership and they want $30 to tell me the code. That's ridiculous for a used radio that I only paid $25. Does anybody know a dealer that will tell the codes over the phone without charging?
Thanks,
Caleb

DO NOT PAY TO GET YOUR CODE!
I recently put a pull-a-part radio in my car. The local dealership looked up the code for me for free, but unfortunately came up with the wrong code. I ended up calling the parts desk at Volvo of Nashville (615-244-7000), told them I bought a salvage radio for my car, gave them the radio's serial number and part number (the part number is at the top of the sticker which has the serial number) and they looked up the code while I waited on hold.
BTW - If there are burned out lamps on your salvage radio (like mine) and you are inclined to take the face off the radio you can get replacement lamps. Don't buy those from the Volvo dealer either, go to your local Honda dealer and ask for 5 lamps part number "35505-S84-N01". They are fairly close to a direct fit and only about $2 each (you just have to take the blue colored lamp cover off the burned out ones and move them to the new lamps).

You need to just call a different dealer or hit up Volvo speed. I know there is a guy on there that works in the parts department, at least he did last year.
