Default Anybody Pulled a trailer with an automatic sedan?

I have a 96 automatic sedan with 210,000 on it but is well kept and serviced. Runs and drives perfect. The manual seems to say no problems because the car has a tranny cooler stock already. All I want to pull is a small trailer with one quad probably max 1,000 pounds total. Anyone ever pulled with an auto sedan before? Just wondered if it would be a problem but it seems volvo just says watch breaking? Any input welcome.

Default 1995 Volvo 850 T-5R Towing 625 miles...

I towed a U-Haul trailer full of furniture in it from Little Rock, AR to Cincinnati OH, 625 miles. The only time I knew it was back there is when someone cut me off and then started braking. I could feel the trailer pushing me.

I think I had about 1,400 lbs. Had the cruise set on 63 mph and got about 18 mpg. I only lost speed once going up a big hill, other than that the turbo keep it stead with no problems.

As you may be able to see, the car was loaded with stuff as well.

Yes an auto. I was seeing more boost than ever.

Make sure you run 91+, otherwise you may experience a lot of timing retarding.

Default trailer

I have always run 87 and the car never really felt like it had a boost and I cold possible have a retard in the timing from time to time. Next time I fill up maybe I'll try 91+ interesting point. But, thanks for the input. Looking forward to towing with the 850.

Not sure about a n/a car, but with my '96 T when I moved to the 91 octane my mpg increased too. I was very pleased with the change and never looked back.

The NA motors are high compression, 10.0:1 (higher than the turbo cars, 8.5:1). So the owners manual recommends 91+. We run 91+ in all of our white block Volvo's.
