I live in a small islands country in the Pacific and there are no volvo dealers, we have to bring in parts but we have some ingenious car mechanics here.

My 850 has had a weakening reverse gear. Now it can only pull away in reverse on the flat, any incline and engine just revs and it doesn't pull. Otherwise forward gears and everything else working well.

Obviously a replacement ATM would have to be found in Australia then imported somehow, very heavy so not practicable. So I wondered if there are any kits available with replacement parts such as the seals, clutch parts etc. Or from my description,can anyone identify an internalpart that has failed and is available seperately? Or can I buy from someone who has one?

I have the ATM drawings with exploded diagram etc, and a mechanic has confirmed he can do the job. The car is still lovely otherwise, such a shame to scrap it. It's the only Volvo car in the country as far as I know.
