Default Audio help

I removed the audio in my 96 850 to fix a loose radio antenna but did not have the code to set it up when I reinstalled it. I went to the local VOLVO agency who got me the code but it wouldn't work. Thinking it was a replacement system theyused the data from the audio systembut could come up with nothing else.Once I had entered the incorrect code 3 times it locked me out permanently (not just for 2 hours per the handbook)and now just displays OFF. The system works perfectly but I cannot unlock the anti-theft code. Any suggestions or help would be immensely appreciated.
Thanks Tim

You might be able to get it working this way... http://au.geocities.com/ozbrick850/radio-codes.html

I've never tried it so I can't vouch for it myself but it seems to have worked for this person. Did you try giving the dealer your vin # for them to look up the code. You might have said it might not have been the original HU, I'd have to re-read, good luck.

Mine has the CD player as well as the cassette so I'm not sure the code encryptor would work. It's worth a try to save $100. I did give the dealer the VIN as well as the serial and model # fromthe audio unit. They gave me a 4 digit code but it wouldn't work. I'll let you know if the encryptor thingworks.

A simple solution. Itracked downthe previous owner and asked her if she knew the audio code. She said she'dhad trouble with it and finally found the correct one at trhe Volvo dealer and written in the Owner's book where I found it inside the front cover. It was completely different from the one given me by the same Volvo dealer using the same VIN.
