Default Automatic transmission jerk in reverse

Just purchased an 850 with 126K miles. Great car, in the past i've had an 240 turbo with a 290K miles and still run strong.

I have a question that is above my mechanical skills. Transmission when put in reverse has a jerk. when i hold break/clutch and add a little bit of gas it kicks in, but it is a jerk. "I THINK" it also kicks in if i JIGGLE the shifter, but it might be extended time or my foot adding gas on pedal. Also I can feel minimal jerk then going from 5 to 4 th gear on the highway, but this one is not significant.

Fluid has a darker brown color to it, but i bet it was not changed in years.

Otherwise trans shifts perfectly.

IS THERE an external adjustment for reverse linkage, or some kind of sensors/ computer that i can look into before worrying about trans?

thank you everyone. Bartok

I know this doesn't solve your problem but that is typical in Fords. My parents have 4 Fords and every last one started doing that at around 50,000 miles. I'd also like to know what that is.
