Default B5244t in an 850, will it work?

Hello fellow p80 owners, i have an option to buy a full motor out of a 2002 c70. Engine code B5244T. If given enough time and effort, would i be able to put it in to my 96 850? I have the 2.5 10v b5252s and its seriously lacking power. (NO I AM NOT SELLING MY CAR FOR A TURBO 850, I WILL KEEP THIS CAR UNTIL I DIE) i have plenty of mechanical know how, i just want to know if anyone has ever put a p2 motor in their 850 before. Any help is appreciated! (I also dont have access to any p80 turbo motors, and this 2.4t engine is close and a good deal, i would just need an ecu and intercooler setup. The wiring harness is all included and the engine is healthy at 130k kms instead of my 287k km 2.5 na.
of course this is all just an idea but i have lots of time to make this project work if its possible.

Default Definitely doable

This is definitely possible, check out FCP Euro on youtube, they took the N/A 5 cyl from a p2 v70, and put it in an 850. The series is called "The 850 Project"

Your problems will be trying to get a CANBUS ecu to work in your car. I would not think that will be possible (for a reasonable amount of money) You would have better luck (meaning get it to actually run) with an earlier fuel/ignition system. 1998 or earlier 5 cyl turbo 850 would probably be a relatively easy swap. Certainly that earlier fuel system - might work on the 2002 5 cyl engine. So the wire harness for the 2002 engine will almost be worthless to you.

So you will need
A 1996-1998 850 turbo parts car (intercooler, exhaust, ecu, wiring, etc)
A 5 cyl engine that will accept all the components earlier cars had with a distributor on the end of the cam. (will a distributor bolt to the end of the intake cam on the 2002?)

It can be done (with a lot of work). Check out this thread on Swedespeed (JaredR). He put a B5239T9 with an M66 trans in a 1997 850R

Thanks for the reply, all the fuel system and ignition is all included with the p2 motor. it is a package deal, as in everything needed comes with it minus the ecu. it would mean i dont even use a single piece of the old engine management. there are 0 850 turbo motors in my area and no junkyards i havent already looked entirely through. it would simply be a matter of finding an ecu for this engine and a transmission is all.

And a gas pedal and wiring, and a fuel pump/fuel pump controller + wiring(variable speed fuel pump) , and a software engineer to figure out how to make a can bus system work without a CEM.

Keep us posted on your progress.
