How difficult is it to replace a right lower ball joint on a 1996 850 and do I need any special tools? Thanks in advance for any help.

 

Standard metric tools, floor jack, jack stand, etc. There are several posts that describe how to and one is under the strut replacement. Basically there are three bolts, one for the ball joint to hold it in place and two for the control arm.

I was informed that you culd damage the control arm when you are trying to press out the ball joint. I just replaced and upgraded mine on my '96 850 when I replaced my struts. I obtained a complete unit from IPD. Then they are 18 miles from my house.
