I have a 850 turbo. My ball joint is the whole assembly. I have to change it for the 2 nd time due to the pot holes. Can I drill out the permanent ball joint and put in the ball joint with the bolts instead of changing the whole assembly? I guest what i am trying to say is there are 2 type of ball joint, used on these cars, one that you can chang the ball joint itself and the other is the type you have to chang the whole control arm.

 

Probably end up spending more than by buying the whole assembly. I just bought mine from Darrell Waltrip Volvo for about $110 per side.
