Default Ball Joint OUT. YEAH!

I laid on my back for about an hour and a half. Got that old worn out rusted in place ball joint out for my control arm replacement. Been putting off this one for almost a year! I didnt think I'd get it out but- I DID IT! got some nice bloody cuts on my hands to prove it. Other side will happen tomorrow.

"Just wanted to shout it at the top of someplace very high!"

My next project is the tie rod ends. I'm hoping those ball joints come out easy. I just did the lower A arm and ball joint and that was easy but this could be payback time.

Default c arms

Hey all, quick question on those Control arms- I've heard to torque the main (fore and aft) bolts under load. So does that mean lower it to the ground, bounce it a few times then jack it back up and torque them down, or get under there as it sits on the ground and torque them? Thx, Dave

ps- Phil- if you're in Sonoma then I bet they will come out easy. In fact, I bet all of your bolts come loose easy. You aren't in the rust belt like some of us bums! New cars start rusting up here within about 6 years...D

When I did mine after I got the arm on I put a jack under the ball joint and raised the car and that loaded the mounting bolts. I figure when I do the tie rod ends I will re check the torque on the control arms.

Yeah we don't have to salt the roads. My problem is I don't have a garage and only a gravel parking area so I have to move all the big rocks before I lay under the car.
