I guess you are talking about the accessory belt tensioner. I have never had a problem with mine. What's the problem with it? As long as the belt doesn't track off the edge of the roller or some other component you should be fine. That idler looks like the fixed idler from a 960.

you just replaced the pulley?

If so there is a chance you dont have the spacing correctly..

It likely isn't going to make a difference (sometimes it does) but you could help out by giving some info about your car and engine like year, model, NA or turbo and also why you replaced it in the first place. Well that and it's a tensioner pulley not an idler. The timing belt uses an idler but the accessory or serpentine belt doesn't. The picture will be the most help because "not sitting right on the pulley" really doesn't say enough about you are seeing.
The more I look at the FCP part I'm wondering if you did get an idler pulley, is it an 850 ??

yea it is an 1997 850 R.l replaced it because it was making some squealing noise.l replaced both the belt and the pulley and the noise stopped. the sits like 1/4 out on the pulley. l got a new continent serpentine belt with it sitting on the pulley like that.l was driving on the high way and my belt broke because the belt wasnt sitting on the pulley right.lucky l had my old original belt in my trunk and replaced it on the high way.its dark outside and cant get pics right now.l will get pics and post it up first thing in the morning.

Maybe you dropped some kind of washer or spacer off of it when you pulled the old one off?

Yeah the spacing looks off...
The washer/spacer should go behind the pulley..
