Default Blower Motor and Resistor 95 GLT SW (Searched already looking for pricing advice)

Don't worry I searched quite a bit about this topic and also put my order in a for Haynes manual also to help me out with my new 1995 Volvo 850 SW

The heather fan on my MCC system only works in #4 which basically means I have a bad resistor but my fan also sounds squeaky. So the best advice I found while searching was to replace the whole fan and resistor and also put in a new cabin filter.

I have got some parts from www.alloemvolvoparts.com already and they came quick (only from a jersey warehouse to PA in 1 day) They have the blower motor and resistor $240 for motor and $94 or so for the resistor for the MCC.

Question is are these prices halfway decent or does somebody have the better sites for cheaper motor and/or resistor prices.

Thank you very much.

Check FCP Groton and eEuroparts.com. I think the last time I checked on the blower it was $165 (Complete) and somewhere around $90 for just the motor and the resistor was around $75.

The thing that irritates the crud out of me is that all of the online suppliers have vendor A with a better price one item and then vendor B has a better price on the other. If you add freight to each lowest price vendor it comes up the same as buying it from either one or the other.

Rant off,

Yea I had just looked at FCP Groton after I posted this question and they seem like the best to go with for the Behr motor and the MCC Resistor. I already ordered some Torx bits and my Haynes manual I can't wait to get the fan to work other than full blast.

Thanks

If the fan works OK on full blast and it doesn't squeak or squeal just replace the resistor. Normally the resistor croaks due to a bad blower but on my '94 it was just the resistor itself that went bad.

It was that way when I bought the car but after I replaced the resistor the whole system is working 3 years later. What you don't want to do is replace a resistor with a bad motor - you get to buy yet another resistor along with the new motor if you do.

Well the first time I had the fan on it sounded like a squeak when I got the car but the other night on the way home from work it sounded quiet as it can on high so ... I might just cross my fingers and go for the resistor. I already ordered the new acc filter. I'll have to see how bad it looks in there before putting the resistor in due to some people saying if its not sealed correctly water drips down there.

Thanks for the advice.

Look on youtube for this video describing how to install or remove 850/S70 blower motors, easier than Haynes manual very simple to follow. Just type (volvo blower motor) into youtube, first one, its a good video with lots of hits, worked for me, but it's kinda straight forward good luck, don't buy used really, replace resistor if possible.

Yes I have seen the video the other night at work think I searched for Blower Motor Volvo 850 and that did the trick.

I tried my fan a bunch of times now and it sounds fine no squeak or rattle... new resistor arrives in 2 days hopefully that does the trick

Thanks!

Well just replaced my resistor with the new one and it works great! The old one was hanging out of the hole where it goes and was dirty and icky as hell.

Thanks!
