Default blower only works at max speed....help!

so i changed out my blower motor bc it started squeeking and people said it's on its way out so i replaced it, however, now the fan only works when i set the fan speed to the highest possible (speed 4), the first three speeds don't work...does this mean the blower resistor needs to be replaced now too? And if i do need to replace it, where is it located? I can see what the part looks like on fcp's site, but when i was replacin the blower, i didn't see anything that resembled a connector piece with a whole bunch of heat sink fins on it.

Most likely resistor as if it only works on high speed it is no longer resisting current and just operating at a constant power constant "fast" speed.

I would for sure replace that, Your resistor is the giant heat sink looking silver module that will plug in on the actual blower motor.

The other is the power connector with two connections that clips to the housing and the 850 vehicle connector clips into it.

resistor:

or google volvo 850 resistor in images and its a blakc and white diagram of the behind the glove box.

Your car has manual climate control... if it had automatic, the fan switch wouldn't be labeled "0-1-2-3-4" And, on that note, the blower motor resistor on manual climate models doesn't have a heat sink. It'll be a black plastic pentagon- shaped piece, mounted to the left of the blower motor, accessible from behind the glove box, with a pigtail plugged into it.
