Default Boost/turbo gauge understanding

Sorry if this is a repost i searched the forum and didn't see anything but i read a while ago that there is a certain number/amount the white section of the turbo gauge indicates, apparently if you pin it it means a certain amount. I'm looking into buying a boost guage but I was just wondering right now if the turbo gauge gives you any indication of a amount of pis? and what the stock boost setting is on a 1994 850 Turbo? is it around 10psi like i read somewhere? Thanks in advance,

Kelsey

the stock gauge doesnt tell you any amount. the stock boost should be about 8psi.

If you are going to get a boost gause, are you going to tap into the stock boost gauge line, or are you going to tap in a new one?

Probably new one i guess or whichever you think is best, if i tap into the old line won't that make the two of them less accurate since they're sharing the pressure and it might show less, ? not sure, i was just curious if the turbo gauge showed amount, because i read somewhere it does, but who knows lol. i guess not thanks guys.

Speaking of turbo if i had a slow leak coming from the turbo and i'm running Full synthetic right now, would it be the gasket at the turbo or something wherever the oil is cycled through, whats the gasket called how hard is it to change, or cost to get done?

Thanks!

PS: I don't know what the leak looks like as I didn't see if when i was under the car, and when i wanted to do m oil change it was too cold so i got it done, i was told its leaking from the turbo so any ideas, thanks!

The most common leak on the turbos is the small ring on the tube that goes from turbo to the engine block. Its fairly easy to replace it and to do that you also have to replace the gasket on the top of that tube. Please note that little bit of oil under the turbo is NORMAL.
The link under might help:

Ok great thanks, i will check that link out and get to it once it warms up again, where would be the best place to find such parts, ebay or are they common enough for the local parts store, i did think a little bit of oil was normal but my dipstick level slowly goes down, is this just a turbo thing, because i do get little puddles on my garage floor from my car, i mean like sopts, no bigger than an orange after proglonged sitting, days to weeks.

Thanks for the help

Sounds like you got a descent little leak going there.
You can ask Autozone...etc. they might have the seals in stock.
OR you can order from http://www.fcpgroton.com/ or IPD

Well, I fyou will go thru the link that was posted 2 post above, You will see the pictures of both the parts. There is a gasket on the top sid eand a ring/seal on the bottom side of that line. OS, Gasket on the turbo side and a ring on he block side.
