Boyd/Foose 850 on eBay
When I bought the Foose car it was in Arizona near Phoenix. 50k actual miles and stored in a conditioned shop. I almost flew out there and planned to drive it home. Time constraints dictated shipping it instead.
On the third drive here around the neighborhood the turbo water inlet hose failed.
I am glad I was not sitting on the side of the Interstate wondering where the nearest tow might be. Out there it is 200 miles away.
Looks like all new belts and hoses are the first project.

I tell people all the time... I would rather buy a car with 200k on the clock than one with 50k on it that has been sitting a lot. One of my customers said they will give me a Maxima with 63k on it. I noticed that it probably hasn't been started in over 2 years. I wont even try to start it. I'll have it towed to my house and do several things before I turn the key.

My dad used to give me crap all the time about buying "tired iron" as he called it. He traded every three years. I always told him if a car couldn't make it at least 100K why should I take a chance on it !!
Now I have a stock looking (used not restored)1983 RX7 out of Calif. with just about 100K on it and wo be to the person who tries to race. It has a modified chev 454. Really torques off the rotary guys.
The 850's coming along and I'm hoping to get closer to 300Hp by spring and 400 bhp by the end of the year. Right now it looks like a pile and I'd get laughed off the forum if I posted pictures of it but it's my baby and it's damn reliable !!
You drive what you can afford. If you're really lucky you can afford what you like!

Matty, what a wit are you. I laughed.
Here is an update on the Foose car.
We had an inexplicable failure in #2 cylinder. Leakdown suggests broken rings or a hole in the piston.
Therefore the Foose car will not run in the BBORR this year. I bought a couple of other V70 T5 cars last year, one of those will have to suffice for this year's race.
Speed costs money, how fast can one afford to go? Hard to know.

Hey Lynn: Good to hear that you are still planning to put a Volvo wagon in the race. If I could afford to, I'd do the same with my stock T-5R just to see if it would hold up or to just watch you.
Please, plase, please, do some videos. That would be awsome!!! Sorry to hear that you have a #2 cylinder problem. I'd be interested in knowing what the problem actually is and what you believe caused it when you get that far.
Keep us up to date on your BBORR race car. You can start a new V70 thread or just edit this thread. I can even sticky it for such an event like the BBORR.

Since to Foose Car is wounded I will go to plan B.
Current plan is to run a bone stock 2001 V70 T5 247HP car in the Street Rod 90mph (124mph max) category as an entry level venture.
I did not see any Volvos on last years grid. Should be easy to set the curve.
Will keep the forum posted.

Just in case anyone else is as sheltered as I am. The "BBORR" is the Big Bend Open Road Race. A high speed open road race in Fort Stockton, Texas held in the springtime.

So here we sit in the west Texas desert not far from the BBORR.
Had 10 inches of snow this week.
Had 10 inches of snow last month.
We have set an all time snow record for the winter. Maybe more to come.
I just love global warming.

And the other side to that is I'm sitting in Minnesota and I haven't pulled out a snow blower once. I've had one snow that was a light shovel and another I didn't even bother to. I can still see grass and it hasn't been below zero yet.
