Default Brake Light Switch

Hello. I have a 1995 850 that my son drives. I noticed the brake lights were not working. I unplugged the Brake Light Switch and jumpered the wires and the brake lights came on. I then removed the switch and checked the continuity. It appeared to be functioning correctly with the ohm meter. Is this possible?

Sure, because you experienced it.

My guess is when the switch was removed it jogged it enough to make contact.

It does not sound reliable, replace it.

I put the switch back in after that but it still didn't work. I plan on ordering a new one. Thanks

Since you've already removed and tested it I know you know but for anyone else coming along after researching this thread here is a photo of the switch and it's location at the top of the brake pedal. It's where you'll find the cruise control cut out switch too.
