Default Using the Fog Light switch as a kill switch?

Hey everyone, I am new on this. I have a '98 V70, I am moving from a very safe area MASS to Oakland, CA. I want to put in a kill switch to the fuel pump. I got under the fuses and found easy access to the wires. As I looked for the best place to hide a switch where I can easily grab it the best place seemed like a Volvo factory switch, I doubt any thief would try the fog light switch to start the car. Any reason not to use this already installed switch? The wire gauge should be fine right? I am not using any fog lights anyway so I don't use the switch.

Wow, that's a pretty good idea!

But i would NOT wire the switch in the pwr line to the fuel pump; neither the switch or the wires will handle the current; that's a 15A circuit. You want to break the fuel pump relay control wire and insert the fog switch there; the wire runs between the ECM and the fuel pump relay. Will need a circuit schematic for your car to find the right wire...

Saw your other post...

According to my manual, it's the yellow/grn (yellow w/green tracer) wire; goes from terminal 31B on the FPR to terminal B27 on the fuel injection ECU.

I forgot to let you all know this has worked out great! I spliced into the relay and works like a charm, it helps me sleep at night as other cars get stolen. Fog light switch has help up just fine.

Doesn't your car have a security system with the ignition imobilizer? If the alarm trips the car wont start? (I have alway thought about doing that to my Volvo's in the past but never did since Volvo's are so hard to get into and have the security system.)

I could see how that may be a problem but my V70 doesn't have an alarm, is that what you mean? I have been really happy with the switch, If I leave it in the off position it runs out of fuel in about 6 seconds of running, granted if i had messed up the wiring it could have been a huge mess, there is not much room for error on those wires.
